Marnie's Secret

Does this storyline seem familiar to you? Marnie Prescott is given a birthday gift by her more sexually adventurous friend - a trip to one of those local sex clubs which seem to exist at the corner of every shop lot in Erotic Romance Land. This club sees a woman getting to pick any man that catches her eye for a sex romp. I don't know about anyone else, but Marnie's best friend seems like a totally cheap buddy to give her sloppy seconds to Marnie as a birthday gift. Likewise, I'd be really wary of hooking up with someone I met in a sex club for a more concrete relationship because I can never tell if he won't be making any more repeat visits to that club after the honeymoon.

At any rate, Lara, the super-cheap friend, ends up introducing Marnie to the man who happens to be her head of security at her company. The head of security ends up giving the boss head in Club Sixty-nine before trying to look for a heads-up in the company when embezzlers and worse strike because we all need some action to keep the story going after the sex is over. Okay, that previous sentence is completely tasteless but I can't resist, so sue me.

I don't know what more to say about this story apart from the fact that I find the characters pleasant but rather forgettable all the same, ditto the plot. The characters are pleasant and the story is okay if on the silly side, but at the same time nothing really grabs me here. What can I say? Let's hope that Marnie's Secret works its magic better on you if you choose to pick this one up because it sure doesn't on me as well as I'd have liked.

The cover art sure is pretty though. I'd say this is one of the simplest yet loveliest covers I've come across lately. Come to think of it, it's a little too classy and glamorous for a story that features a club called Sixty-nine, heh.
