The Bourne Supremacy (2004)
Main cast: Matt Damon (Jason Bourne), Franka Potente (Marie), Brian Cox (Ward Abbott), Julia Stiles (Nicky), Karl Urban (Kirill), Gabriel Mann (Danny Zorn), Joan Allen (Pamela Landy), and Marton Csokas (Jarda)
Director: Paul Greengrass

Continuing from The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy tells of poor amnesiac agent Jason Bourne's continual attempts to discover who he is, who the good guys are, and who the bad guys are as his attempt to settle down into a normal life is rudely ended when his girlfriend Marie dies and Jason finds himself pursued by an assassin called Kirill. Meanwhile, Pamela Landy is trying to track him down on behalf of her superior Ward Abbott. Who is she again? That is what Jason will have to figure out as he once more goes on the run and tries to get revenge on poor Marie in the process.

I'm sure those people who care about plot will bemoan the fact that The Bourne Supremacy is more about pyrotechnical explosions and action sequences than the previous movie ever was. The previous movie tries to give this impression that it is a thinking movie critic's kind of thing while this one is pure popcorn action flick. It doesn't make any apologies for being what it is. I suppose, therefore, I should feel no shame about admitting that I enjoy this movie so much more than the previous more plot-heavy movie. There's something to be said about just sitting back and enjoying the action scenes in this movie - I mean, the plot in the previous movie isn't that compelling and I find it easier to stay awake while watching this movie. Or perhaps it is due to Matt Damon wearing all kinds of tight action hero shirts on screen?

At any rate, this movie is pure popcorn-and-explosives type of fun. Yeah, the previous movie is more "intelligent", whatever. Pass me the popcorns and we'll have a good time watching how "terrible" this movie is as we unwind after a long hard day.
