The Initiation Of Isabella
by Jenna Ives, contemporary (2009)
Samhain Publishing, $3.50, ISBN 978-1-60504-761-4

Isabella Tallin believes that she is handcuffed and blindfolded as part of the Sigma Iomega Nu sorority initiation. Logan Summers believes that Bella is the client he has been hired to play out the "innocent schoolgirl gets punished" fantasy with. He runs a company, Fantasies Fulfilled, and since he drives a sports car, I think we can safely say that prostitution pays by leaps and bounds in BDSM Erotic Romance Land. Oh, and it's legal too - even your grandmother knows where to look for BDSM swing parties in BDSM Erotic Romance Land because this is one of those topics that everybody knows about.

Back to the story, I'll be upfront and say this: this is a story of a woman set up to experience gagging, blindfolding, and the whole nine yards, with the culmination of the night being her taken by three men. Bella never ordered any of this - she is set up by her friends. Logan has moments of doubts whether she is the person he is supposed to service, but he never asked for an ID. But fortunately for everyone, Bella ends up liking it, Logan feels that she is that special someone, and therefore, there is a happy ending here instead of messy lawsuits and rape charges flying all over the place.

The Initiation Of Isabella sells a sexual fantasy that some readers will adore while others will wonder just how far the line has been crossed in this short story. Unfortunately, I'm not sold on the fantasy. Still, on the bright side, this is the only short story of the three in the Binding Ties series that gets a strong reaction from me. It's a negative reaction, but you have to admit, even a negative reaction is sometimes better than total indifference.

Approach this one with more caution than usual, since I doubt the set-up of this story is going to be to everyone's liking.
